DC’s “Supergirl” Starring Milly Alcock Takes Flight in First Trailer

DC Studios has unleashed the first trailer for Supergirl, the highly anticipated superhero film starring Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, and it offers one of the boldest reinterpretations of the classic character yet. We got a glimpse of the fun-loving party girl cousin of Superman in last summer’s James Gunn-directed film, now we see the full extent of her life in space: chaotic, messy, and way more cynical than Superman.

The trailer opens with Kara waking up alone, clutching a birthday candle and muttering, “23 will be the best year yet,” before a rapid plunge into high-octane action. We see Alcock’s Supergirl navigating alien landscapes with her loyal companion Krypto the Superdog, and meeting Ruthye Marye Knoll (Eve Ridley), a young alien girl whose quest for justice drives the narrative.

“He sees the good in everyone — and I see the truth” she said at one point in the trailer – highlighting the tonal contrast between Supergirl and her Kryptonian cousin.

Jason Momoa’s long-teased appearance as Lobo also makes an early visual impact, offering a glimpse of the anti-hero bounty hunter roaming chaotic interstellar halls. Among her supporting cast are Matthias Schoenaerts as the villainous Krem of the Yellow Hills, David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham as Kara’s parents Zor-El and Alura In-Ze, and other new faces who flesh out this universe of cosmic consequence.

Alcock, best known for her breakout turn as a young Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon, appeared in the July 2025 Superman film’s post credit scene — marking her first live-action turn as a major DC hero. In Supergirl, director Craig Gillespie and producers James Gunn and Peter Safran lean into a storyline inspired by the Woman of Tomorrow comic arc, blending visceral vengeance with emotionally grounded stakes.

Supergirl soars into theaters June 26, 2026, promising a fresh, darker chapter in the DC Universe that places Supergirl at the heart of a sprawling intergalactic quest.
