Charli XCX and Billie Eilish’s “Guess” Breaks Spotify Record

It’s Charli XCX’s Brat summer and we’re just living in it!

Hot off her massively popular electro-pop album “Brat”, Charli XCX has teamed up with Billie Eilish for a remix of “Guess”, the third single from the album.

“Guess featuring Billie Eilish” includes brand-new lyrics from the Grammy-winning singer. One line in particular, in which Eilish sings “Charli likes boys, but she knows I’d hit it” is going viral for its flirty, sapphic undertone.

The music video for the single has the two Gen Z icons frolicking on a mountain of colorful underwear. Within five days of release on Youtube, it has amassed over 9 million views. Later, all the unworn undergarments in the video were donated to domestic violence survivors through the organization “I Support The Girls”.

The song also goes wild on Spotify. Upon its August 1 release, the “Guess” remix notched 6.8 million streams over the weekend, breaking Spotify record for highest debut of a remix song by female artists. The record was previously held by Taylor Swift’s “Karma ft. Ice Spice” with 5 million streams. With this feat, “Guess featuring Billie Eilish” shot to the top of the US Spotify Chart, making it Charli XCX’s first No. 1 hit since 2014’s “Fancy”.

The remix’s success follows an already triumphant summer for the 32-year-old singer. Released in June, the “Brat” album’s hedonistic and freewheeling club beats clearly resonate with the masses, becoming the dominant pop culture zeitgeist along with its neon green aesthetic. The latter has been replicated all over the internet, including by Democratic Presidential candidate Kamala Harris. The US Vice President borrows Charli XCX’s Brat-core for her upcoming election campaign, which the singer co-signed with a tweet proclaiming “Kamala IS brat.”
