Amid heated controversy surrounding TikTok ban in the US, OG TikTok celebrity Charli D’Amelio continues to broaden her foray on Broadway. The 20-year-old dancer is extending her run in the jukebox musical “& Juliet”. In the show, an irreverent take on Shakespeare’s famous play, D’Amelio plays Charmian, described as a dance-heavy ensemble role. She made her Broadway debut in October 2024 and was supposed to stay until January 19. Now, the social media star is set to continue for another three months.
“Making my Broadway debut in & Juliet has been a dream come true,” says D’Amelio in a statement. “I’m so grateful for this incredible company for welcoming me with open arms, and to all of our fantastic audiences for their support of the show. I’m so glad that I can continue sharing this story for three more months!”
D’Amelio’s “& Juliet” castmates currently include Maya Boyd as Juliet, Tony winner Paulo Szot as Lance, Alison Luff as Anne, Drew Gehling as Shakespeare, Liam Pearce as Romeo, Michael Iván Carrier as May, Jeannette Bayardelle as Angélique, and Nathan Levy as François.
“& Juliet”, a nine-time Tony Awards nominee, including for Best Musical, reimagines Juliet’s fate if she hadn’t killed herself at the end of the story. The hit musical features a smorgasbord of contemporary hits like “Since U Been Gone,” “Roar,” “I Want It That Way,” and “Confident”, meshed with an anachronistic medieval setting.
