Making a triumphant return to the ceremony after a four-year absence, the K-Pop supergroup took home one of the night’s most prestigious awards and delivered a pre-recorded performance of “Hooligan” straight from their world tour stage.
The group picked up three trophies overall at the Las Vegas event: Artist of the Year, Best Male K-pop Artist and Song of the Summer for their hit single “Swim.” The victory marks BTS’ second Artist of the Year win at the AMAs following their historic first win in 2021.
The seven-member act — RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook — accepted the night’s top honor together onstage after reuniting earlier this year following the completion of their mandatory military service. During the acceptance speech, RM thanked ARMY “for staying with us through every season,” while Jungkook described the reunion as “a dream we missed every day.”
BTS also appeared during one of the night’s major presentation segments, taking the stage to present Favorite Female R&B Artist to SZA. Jimin joked that the group had been listening to SOS backstage throughout the tour, drawing loud cheers from the MGM Grand crowd.
The appearance marked BTS’ first full-group attendance at the AMAs in four years. The group also performed a pre-recorded rendition of “Hooligan,” another track from their comeback album Arirang, which recently spent two consecutive weeks atop the Billboard 200.
Their current Arirang Tour has already become one of the year’s biggest live music events, with sold-out stadium shows across Los Angeles, Chicago, New York and Dallas. The group’s attendance at the AMA came just a day after their two-night stops at Sin City’s Allegiant Stadium.
