Billie Eilish Calls Out Billionaires at WSJ Innovator Awards, Urging Them to Give Away Their Money

The singer made a powerful statement about wealth and responsibility during her speech in New York City.
Billie Eilish didn’t mind stirring things up on Wednesday, October 29, during the WSJ Magazine Innovator Awards, when she called out the billionaires in attendance to donate part of their fortunes.
The singer was bold and direct as she addressed some of the richest people in the room, including Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of Meta, while accepting her Musical Innovator Award at the ceremony held in New York City.
“I love all of you, but there are some people here who have way more money than I do… and if you’re a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? No hate, but yeah. Give your money away, shorties,” Billie said on stage.
And she didn’t just talk the talk — she walked the walk. Host Stephen Colbert announced that Billie donated $11.5 million from her ongoing Hit Me Hard and Soft tour to support causes such as food equity, climate justice, carbon reduction, and the fight against the climate crisis.
Will the billionaires follow her lead? Stay tuned…
