After a decade away from fashion’s biggest night, Beyoncé returned to the Met Gala in commanding fashion — and made it a family affair, arriving alongside Jay-Z and Blue Ivy Carter for one of the evening’s most talked-about appearances.
For the “Lemonade” singer, the 2026 gala doubled as a milestone return after her last attendance in 2016. Before that, especially between 2012 and 2016, Beyoncé was a regular Met Gala presence, often delivering standout Givenchy couture moments that defined multiple red carpets. This year, she also served as a co-chair of the event, joining a host committee that helped shape the evening built around the theme “Costume Art” and the dress code “Fashion Is Art.”
The “Halo” songstress leaned fully into the concept with a dramatic, body-focused look designed by Olivier Rousteing. Her ensemble featured a crystal-covered skeletal illusion bodice, paired with a feathered cape and a sculptural headpiece — an interpretation tied to the exhibit’s exploration of the human form as art. Later in the evening, she changed into a second custom look by Robert Wun, a sculptural gown embellished with crystals and designed to resemble a constellation-like pattern.
Her appearance was amplified by the presence of her family. Jay-Z opted for a classic tailored black suit, while Blue Ivy — making her Met Gala debut — wore a Balenciaga look that blended couture with youthful styling. The trio posed together on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, with photos capturing a relaxed, affectionate dynamic that quickly circulated online.
Beyoncé described the experience as “surreal,” particularly sharing the moment with her daughter. The Grammy winner repeatedly pointed to Blue Ivy’s presence as her greatest source of pride that night. The 14-year-old was among one of the youngest attendees at this year’s gala.
