He watched his sister marry a Duke. He then helped his big brother come to his senses and marry for love rather than duty. Lastly, he saw his little brother finally fall in love with his best friend. After three seasons of being the supportive sibling, Benedict Bridgerton, played by the wonderful Luke Thompson, is finally going to be a leading man on “Bridgerton” season 4.

The official announcement of Benedict’s season came in a video recently posted by Netflix. The confirmation is a welcome relief to book fans who had to watch his story, originally the third book in the series, got passed over for Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington’s long simmering friends-to-lovers arc.

Benedict spent the bulk of season 3 hiding from the marriage-minded mamas and their eager daughters. He instead fell into the arms of a wealthy widow and began a torrid affair with her. Now that that’s behind him, Benedict is poised to meet his mysterious Lady in Silver, the masked lady at the ball who enchants him to come out of his shell.

In his interview with Tudum, Thompson teased the evolution of Benedict’s character: “Benedict has always been a little lost — or free depending on the way you want to look at it. But now he’s trying to find something a bit more solid in himself.” Well, that and a certain elusive girl who sneaks into Benedict’s mother’s Masquerade Ball one night and wouldn’t leave his mind many nights after that.

The Cinderella-esque premise is already brimming with so much romantic potential. Now the hunt is on for the lucky lady who would be the next Mrs. Bridgerton!
