On Oscar nominations morning, those who clinched their spots in the race took to social media to express their joy.

Ariana Grande, nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category for her role as Glinda in the smash hit musical Wicked, shares an emotional post to celebrate her first Oscar nomination.

“Picking my head up in between sobs to say thank you so much to @theacademy for this unfathomable recognition,” Grande captioned an Instagram post of her young self dressed up as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. “I cannot stop crying, to no one’s surprise.”

She added. “I’m humbled and deeply honored to be in such brilliant company and sharing this with tiny ari who sat and studied Judy Garland singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow just before the big, beautiful bubble entered. I’m so proud of you, tiny.”

Cynthia Erivo, Grande’s co-star in the movie, also got a Best Actress nomination for her role as Elphaba. She was previously nominated in the same category for Harriet (2019).

“Moments like this don’t come along very often, and when they do, it is sacrilege to let them pass by without a moment of gratitude,” Erivo wrote on Instagram Thursday. “I am grateful, grateful to @theacademy, grateful to be a part of something that makes people feel seen, grateful to be a cog in the wheel of a piece that makes us believe in magic, grateful to have experienced a dream come true, and deeply deeply grateful for this unbelievable recognition.”

On Thursday morning, Wicked scored 10 Oscars nominations, only second place behind Emilia Perez with 13, including a Best Supporting Actress nod for Zoe Saldana.

The actress celebrated by uploading a picture with her two sisters, Cisely and Mariel. She wrote: “I am truly honored and grateful for the nomination. Thank you so much for considering me for this award.”

She continued. “I am thrilled to be among such talented company. Emilia Pérez was made with love. Thank you to @theacademy and its members for recognizing our work.”

Saldana’s post ended with a shoutout to Emilia Perez’s director, Jacques Audiard, who also nabbed a Best Director spot.

Another adorable reaction came from Jeremy Strong, a Best Supporting Actor contender for his role in The Apprentice.

Posting a picture of his pre-teen self posing in front of the Oscars ceremony, the recent Tony winner called the nomination the “realization of a lifelong dream.”

“I remember being unable to sleep because of how exciting it was to be close to that world,” the “Succession” star wrote. “I have not lost that feeling of excitement; I feel it every time I go to set or drive onto a lot or begin rehearsals. I have devoted my life to the attempt to do genuine work that would be worthy of this honor.”

Now, all these stars need to do is wait with bated breath until Oscars night, set to occur on Sunday, March 3, 2025.
